``WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain! Wins Best Fighting Game At Spike TVs First Annual Video Game Awards
December 4th, 2003 (12:00am) - THQ Inc. and JAKKS Pacific, Inc. today announced that "WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain!" won the "Best Fighting Game" award at Spike TVs first annual Video Game Awards show held Tuesday evening at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. Developed by Yukes Co., Ltd. of Japan, "WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain!" beat out other fighting category nominees SoulCaliber II and Def Jam Vendetta.
The award show will be televised on Spike TV tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT. "Were thrilled that the nomination process called on gamers across the globe to cast their votes," said Philip Holt, Vice President of Product Development, THQ. "Knowing that the award came directly from the fans makes this a huge honor for the SmackDown! team."
