Capcom Press Event.
January 29th, 2004 (12:00am) - Capcom’s Annual January Press Event at the Bellagio Resort and Casino was held yesterday, and before they showed some of their 2004 lineup, their executives explained their focus on this year.
Newly announced President, Capcom USA and President CE Europe Hiroshi Tobisawa announced that Capcom was going to be more focused internationally, and they have formed a new strategy. Capcom is striving for a 10% increase in market share in all three major territories. Tobisawa said that this years titles, while important to stay popular in Japan, will have an international slant to them. Capcom is looking to make games that aren’t only big hits in Japan, but overseas as well. To do so, Capcom is increasing spending for improved localization, as well as putting more money in a studio for Capcom USA to make titles more appealing to western markets. Capcom also has a new multiplatform strategy. Not only will Capcom be developing games for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, and Game Boy Advance, but they’re also planning on supporting the PC – which is a new step for the company. Tobisawa also expressed that they would be focusing on their major brands this year including franchise heavies like Resident Evil, Onimusha, and Mega Man. During the presentation Capcom previewed the following titles: Onimusha 3 Mega Man Battle Network 4 Mega Man X Command Mission Killer 7 Resident Evil Outbreak Monster Hunter Nightmare Before Christmas Shadow Of Rome Resident Evil 4 Reported by Steven Hopkins on January 29th, 2004 (12:00am) [From: Gameinformer.com]
