JAKKS and Namco team Up for New Classic Arcade Games for TV Games brand
February 11th, 2004 (12:00am) - JAKKS Pacific, Inc. announced that it has entered a new three-year licensing agreement with Namco Hometek Inc. to develop Ms. Pac-Man and other Namco arcade classic video games for a Ms. Pac-Man TV Games version of JAKKS award-winning TV Games line, a plug and play gaming system that contains multiple classic games in one single controller. "Based on the success of the first Namco release, we hope to have equal, if not more, rewarding results from the Ms. Pac-Man TV Games release," said Stephen Berman, president and COO, JAKKS Pacific. "Ms. Pac-Man is one of the most popular arcade titles of all time, and will be a big draw for gaming fans, as will Pole Position, Galaga(TM) and the other Namco classics." Ms. Pac-Man TV Games will feature the classic games Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Pole Position, Xevious, and Mappy. All that is needed are batteries and a TV -- No videogame consoles and no gaming cartridges are required! Simply plug TV Games into the A/V jacks of any standard television set, turn on and play! The lightweight, compact, all-inclusive controller, houses a combination of videogames with all of the hardware built right into the controller. This technology allows gaming fans to enjoy a number of videogames with just one single purchase. Ms. Pac-Man TV Games is expected to debut at International Toy Fair in February 2004, and is expected to have a suggested retail price of approximately $20.00. It will be available in U.S. territories, as well as Latin America and Canada. Reported by Dan Blomberg on February 11th, 2004 (12:00am)
