First Ever Metroid Prime 2 Screens

April 14th, 2004 (12:00am) - The latest issue of Game Informer magazine has revealed the first ever images and confirmed details on Metroid Prime 2, Retro Studios’ highly anticipate sequel to arguably one of the greatest games of our time.

From these grainy scans it can be seen that, unlike the original, Metroid Prime 2 will feature a split-screen multiplayer mode for up to four players. At the moment, it is unknown if the game with support LAN play, or any other multiplayer functions. In addition, when examining the first screenshot it can be seen that Metroid Prime 2 utilizes a pseudo Cel Shading technique, giving the game a look more akin to its 2D predecessors, and I must say it’s pulled off very well.

Metroid Prime 2 is expected to be fully unveiled and be in playable form at Nintendo’s booth in May at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
