Nintendo Patents Game Boy Advance Emulation
May 1st, 2004 (12:00am) - Nintendo has been awarded a patent for “a software emulator… emulating a hand video game platform,” meaning that any type of Game Boy or Game Boy Advance emulator is now property of Nintendo.
With Nintendo now being the sole and legal owner of any type of Game Boy Advance emulation, all types Game Boy emulators have become illegal. Companies such as Crimson Fire, which released a Game Boy Advance emulator for the Tapwave Zodiac PDA gaming platform, will receive cease and desist orders from Nintendo, who is citing their patent as grounds for the suit, as Crimson Fire is currently experiencing.
