Atari Hands Over Oddworld Inhabitants to Microsoft
June 15th, 2004 (12:00am) - Atari has revealed in a regulatory filing that the company has terminated its relationship with developer Oddworld Inhabitants. Oddly, Atari has handed its fifty percent share in the company to Microsoft in return for a chunk of publishing royalties.
The reason for labeling this transaction as something which is odd is the fact that in late March Microsoft revealed that they were no longer going to be involved with the development and publishing of any future Oddworld Inhabitants games. Now, it is quite possible that Oddworld Inhabitants latest game, codenamed Stranger, will once again be published by Microsoft, as was their last title, the Xbox launch title Munch’s Odysee.
