Swingin’ Ape Studios Takes Over StarCraft: Ghost Development

July 8th, 2004 (12:00am) - Last month developer Nihilistic announced that they had ended their involvement with the development of the highly anticipated StarCraft: Ghost. Assumption had it that Blizzard itself would take over development of the title. However, Blizzard has just announced that developer Swingin’ Ape Studios will be picking up development of the game. Swingin’ Ape Studios is known for such games as Hydro Thunder and the critically acclaimed Metal Arms: A Glitch in the System.

"The team at Swingin’ Ape Studios is a very talented group of developers with a proven ability to deliver extraordinary games," according to Blizzard president and co-founder Mike Morhaime. "We’re confident that this partnership will result in titles that achieve the level of quality that players have come to expect from Blizzard products."

Blizzard’s collaboration with Swingin’ Ape Studios for the development of the game is expected to go beyond StarCraft: Ghost. Blizzard’s announcement of the collaboration had hinted towards many more future multiplatform game projects.

After many delays, StarCraft: Ghost is expected for release sometime in 2005.
