Wait For Space World……Next Year
July 22nd, 2004 (12:00am) - It looks like you’re going to have to wait until next year for Nintendo to hold a Space World event in Japan or even attending the Tokyo Game Show this year. Nintendo has decided to forego both events this year in favor of showing Japan the “third pillar of gaming”, known to all as the Nintendo DS, in a nationwide promotion.
In the latest Nintendo Dream magazine, a publication in Japan, Nintendo spokesperson Mitsuaki Hagishima finally revealed their plans of not holding a Space World event this year. This would mark the third straight year that Space World, a gaming convention held in Japan that is self-promoted by the video game giant, will not be held. Hagishima said to Nintendo Dream, “We could have opened the Space World [this year], but holding a large event in one location makes it difficult for people from other regions to participate. It’s not like we won’t ever open a Space World event again. But we aren’t going to hold one this summer.” As reported before by GamersMark Network, Nintendo will also skip this year’s Tokyo Game Show, which they have done for several years now, so they can fully focus on their nationwide promotion of the Nintendo DS. “We want as many of our fans in the country as possible to experience the DS before it goes on sale at the end of the year. So instead, we’re currently planning an effective event that can be expanded to a nationwide scale,” states Mitsuaki Hagishima. Be sure to keep watch on GamersMark Network as we bring you more information pertaining to the nationwide promotion of the Nintendo DS in Japan.
