Eidos on the Auction Block
August 3rd, 2004 (12:00am) - In a trading update issued this morning, Eidos confirmed rumors of a possible takeover bid, in response to recent speculation as to why the company’s share price had rebound. The company said that “preliminary discussions with a small number of parties in relation to possible business combinations” are taking place. However, this does not necessarily mean that such a transaction would occur in the near future, but it is a possibility.
Computer&Videogames.com is suggesting that an Electronic Arts buyout of Eidos Interactive is in the process; although, neither party has confirmed this speculation. If an EA buyout of Eidos did in fact happen. EA’s market share would be sure to increase significantly, as it would be acquiring the rights to such properties as Legacy of Kain, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, and Thief.
