August 9^th, 2004 (12:00am) - Continuing to induce a resurgence of energy throughout the PC gaming community, Activision, Inc. announced today that gamers will be able to battle it out mano a mano against Kornelia - the famous top-ranked professional gamer, in the DOOM 3 Kornelia FragFest at this year’s QuakeCon 2004. Sponsored by Alienware, the contest takes id Software’s recently released sci-fi horror masterpiece, DOOM 3, and pits gamers against Kornelia in deathmatch mode for the chance to win a handful of prizes including an Alienware Area-51m performance notebook computer. The one-day fragfest will take place Friday, August 13.

QuakeCon, the world’s most legendary multiplayer event, is being held August 12-15 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. The 9th annual bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) LAN party plays host to computer gamers from around the country as they wage virtual war against one another, check out the latest technology, and compete for $150,000 in the NVIDIA QuakeCon 2004 Championship Tournament.
