Chrono Trigger No Longer Resurrecting

September 7th, 2004 (12:00am) - In what has to be a huge disappointment for Chrono Trigger fans around the world, the development of an independent remake of the Super NES RPG Classic Chrono Trigger, titled Chrono Resurrection, has been closed indefinitely by Square-Enix Co., Ltd. Square-Enix had issued a Cease and Desist letter to independent developer Opcoder, which is effective immediately.

The game’s development was never approved by Square-Enix, but many were hoping that due to the game being beautifully rendered in 3D, not only would Square-Enix allow its development, but even possibly publish the game. Of course, as we have just learned, the exact opposite has happened. In remembrance, here are some screens of the game, and a link to two beautifully rendered trailers of the title. Chrono Resurrection had been in development for the PC, GameCube, and Xbox.
