Burnout 3 Takes Down X-Box Live
September 16th, 2004 (12:00am) - X-Box Live was shaken hard due to some unforseen technical problems with Burnout 3: Takedown. There are several problems the game is causing when played on Live.
-Players cant launch game: When trying to launch a game, the launch button is grayed out. There is no message telling you whats up. -Friends List function is broken: The friends list function is unreliable and frustrating. -Cant Join Annoyance: If you cant join a friend while he or she is in a different lobby, join the club. Account Inactive Bug: Sometimes you will be logged off while waiting for someone else to finish racing. The message reads "this account has been inactive." -Communication Issues: People in the same room cant always hear one another. If you fiddle with the audio output settings you can regain functional audio. -Random Disconnects. Servers drop players randomly. -Gamers from different Territories cant play: Matching 50 hertz games (Europe) with 60 hertz games (North America) with a game that runs this fast appears to be the main issue. It appears that Criterion didnt want to lose speed and framerate by having these mixed territories playing together. As of Tuesday, EA and Developer Criterion have already tried to patch up the problems. They claim its mainly peer to peer problems, and theres no problem with Microsofts servers, but there are some issues with their own. They say theyll be monitoring the situation closely, and will provide the best possible solution. Reported by Anthony Swinnich on September 16th, 2004 (12:00am) [From: IGN]
