Snowy the Bear Gets Ready for New Platforming Adventure
October 26th, 2004 (10:44am) - From Mario and Donkey Kong to Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot, some of the most popular console games in history have featured strong, appealing characters. Now Alawar Entertainment is bringing its own platform-hopping hero to the personal computer - Snowy the Bear.
From the chilly arctic peaks of Snowy: The Bear’s Adventure to the galactic setting of Snowy: Space Trip, no quest is too big for Alawar’s charming protagonist. Nor is any challenge too tough, as the many gamers who downloaded Snowy: Puzzle Islands, a logic game starring the white bear, have discovered. “We set out to create a computer game character that would appeal to kids,” said Alexander Lyskovsky, CEO of Alawar. “But Snowy surpassed our expectations. Many of our adult customers enjoy his games, too.” Alawar’s focus on alluring characters, engaging gameplay and commercial-quality visuals and audio have made the Snowy games among the most popular offerings on GameXtazy.com and other download sites. Each release features dozens of levels, simple controls, easier modes for children and free upgrades for registered users. With three games under his belt, Snowy’s adventures are far from over. In fact, Alawar and developer Aliasworlds Entertainment are already developing a fourth title starring the adorable white bear. “Our customers asked us to continue Snowy’s adventures,” Lyskovsky said. “As a result of their suggestions, we’re planning to make several different kinds of new Snowy games.” In addition to more interactive offerings, Alawar will reveal even bigger plans for its plucky hero at a later date.
