Sony PSP Japanese Launch Date and Pricing Revealed

October 27th, 2004 (10:47am) - Today, Sony Computer Entertainment confirmed that the PSP will indeed launch on time time in Japan, despite several key titles getting delayed. This comes to surprise to all who expected the handheld to be delayed into next year, mainly on the basis that the development time seemed way too short. The PSP is set to launch in japan at December 12th, a full two weeks after the Nintendo DS launch. The biggest surprise yet comes in the fact that it will cost significantly less than previously expected and speculated, the price being set at 19,800 yen ($185). Additionally, a value pack of sorts will also be offered for 24,800 yen ($232), which will include a memory stick, a carrying case, a wrist strap, and headphones with a remote control for volume and the like, ontop of the normal system and battery combo. Additionally a list of launch titles for the PSP has been released. The following is a list of the games to be released by the end of the year for the PSP:

Also, Sony has commented on Battery Life of the PSP. Allegedly, the battery life for gaming will last 4-6 hours with it lasting 4-5 hours for movie playing, a calculated average according to Sony Computer Entertainment.
