Region Free PSP
October 27th, 2004 (8:08pm) - Much like Nintendo’s handhelds, Sony has confirmed that the PSP will not feature a territory lockout for game titles. However, the PSP will feature a region lock encoding, but this will not affect game titles. If region lock-outs are to effect any of the PSP features, it will be UMD Video releases, although, this has not been confirmed at the current time.
"For games on PSP there is no region code," said Molly Smith of SCEA. "However, due to language and system issues, quality assurance procedures are done in each territory. Therefore, we recommend purchasing both the hardware and corresponding software in the same market/territory." We’ll keep you posted on any further developments regarding the situation.
