EA Lowers Prices On Holiday Sports Lineup
November 9th, 2004 (12:42am) - Electronic Arts has announced new holiday promotional prices on top EA Sports titles. Starting tomorrow, Madden NFL 2005 and NBA LIVE 2005 will have a suggested retail price of $29.95. The suggested retail price for NHL 2005 will be $29.95 and the best-selling college football game, NCAA Football 2005 will be $39.95.
“This is great news for mainstream sports fans,” said Frank Gibeau, EA’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “People who buy sports games late in the season tend to be more casual players. Our pricing strategy will be a big draw during the holidays and will attract new players to EA Sports.” Despite the monstrous success of all of EAs sports titles, this price drop is possibly a retaliatory move against Sega and Take-Two Interactives low pricing of its holiday sports titles.
