New DS Feature Revealed
November 9th, 2004 (11:18pm) - Today, IGN DS recieved their DS unit from Nintendo of America and blew out its arrival with a hands-on of the unit itself, Pictochat, and of course Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, including numerous images and videos.
However, there is more to this little handheld than meets the eye. There are functions beyond touch screen, microphone, and wireless connectivity. These functions are found in things like the calendar and clock. One such new function is the Alarm Clock mode. You set the clock to sound an alarm at a certain time and when it goes off, it makes a simple beeping noise, but that beeping noise gets louder and louder, however it only beeps for 60 second intervals and stops for a minute, before starting again, this alarm can be shut off by pressing any button besides the L and R button. Even the touchscreen can be used to shut it off. When the alarm is set, it goes into power conservation modes and goes off at the designated time. Looks like you can toss out that other cheap alarm you have now and replace it with the DS. We will have more on the new features as they are revealed in the following days.
