Miyamoto Speaks

November 24th, 2004 (10:25pm) - Famitsu recently held an interesting interview with videogame creative genius, Shigeru Miyamoto. Among the topics touched were that of Online Gaming, GameCube, Nintendo DS, and the GBA.

On the topic of online gaming, Miyamoto said that:

  • Within the next 3 to 4 years, online gaming will be main-stream. Nintendo realizes that and will attempt to move into that direction.
  • The Nintendo DS will go online sooner than we all think
  • Square Enix and Nintendo are working together on getting the Nintendo DS online.
  • On the topic of the GameCube:

  • The recently announced Mario Baseball is a joint project with Namco.
  • Mario 128 is still in development for the GameCube, not for the Revolution. Miyamoto though could not tell when the game will be released.
  • Nintendo is hard at work on a new Pokémon game for the GameCube. Shigeru also added that this game is in development with "strong allies."
  • Miyamoto-san also made a small announcement on the game Mother 3 (Earthbound) for the GBA. He stated that the game is still in development and will see a release sometime soon.

GamersMark will have more on these interesting turn of events as it is revealed in the following days.
