Infogrames Sells Civilization Rights

November 25th, 2004 (6:01pm) - Infogrames, the parent company of Atari, has announced that it has sold the rights to Sid Meier’s Civilization series for an estimated 22.3 million dollars.

Rumor has it that Firaxis, developer of the Civilization games, has picked up the rights to the series, however, this is unconfirmed at the moment.

With the development of Sid Meier’s Pirates! completed, Firaxis is currently focusing on the development of Sid Meier’s Civilization IV. If Firaxis has indeed purchased the rights to the series, as rumored in the past, Atari may still indeed publish the game when ready for release.
