Nintendo-Produced Film In 2006
November 26th, 2004 (9:09pm) - In late September it was revealed that Hiroshi Yamauchi, Nintendo’s largest shareholder and former president, planned on suggesting to Nintendo’s management that the company explore the territory of film. Yamauchi-san suggested that Nintendo pursue an animated film based on a museum exhibition held in praise of Japanese literary artwork and card game called 100 Poems by 100 Famous Poets. Now, it seems that Nintendo Co. Ltd., is indeed pursuing Yamauchi-san’s wishes.
Today, Asia Pulse learned that Nintendo is planning on producing an animated film for a 2006 release. According to the release, Nintendo will produce the films internally, instead of pursuing an outside partnership as they have in the past with the animated Pokémon films. At the moment the content of the film has yet to be determined, however, it has been rumored that Nintendo may be considering Yamauchi-san’s original suggestion as well as considering to create a film based on its own videogame characters. We’ll keep you updated on the situation in the future.
