Ghost Recon 2 Banned in South Korea
November 29th, 2004 (11:58am) - In an interesting development, Ghost Recon 2 has been banned by the Media Ratings Board of South Korea. Claims from the board are saying that the games storyline has gone too far, which is centered around a war on the Korean peninsula.
Even more interesting is the fact that the North Korean government is also insulted by the games existence. A government-related North Korean newspaper commented on the game and Americans, after its appearance at E3, saying that "Through propaganda, entertainment and movies, [Americans] have shown everyone their hatred for us. This may be just a game to them now, but a war will not be a game for them later. In war, they will only face miserable defeat and gruesome deaths." While this quote may anger many American readers, let it be known that the comments of this North Korean publication are indeed foolish. However, this is not because of the obvious militaristic reasons. No, the reason for this is that the videogame publisher of Ghost Recon 2 is French (irony).
