NBA Rejects EA Offer

December 20th, 2004 (11:44pm) - Continuing today’s onslaught of news regarding EA’s want to dominate the videogame industry are reports that EA has indeed attempted to enter a similar exclusivity agreement with the NBA as they have with Players Inc. and the NFL.

According to the sources of Jon Robinson at IGN.com, EA has made an attempt to bid on exclusive arrangements with the NBA, but the NBA has rejected EA’s initial offer. Supposedly, the NBA does not believe that a partnership with EA would be very profitable due to the fact that EA’s NBA Live franchise doesn’t perform strongly enough in sales to "justify" the elimination of Sega and Take-Two’s ESPN NBA series, as well as the many other NBA games available at retail.

Readers should take note that EA’s initial offer to the NBA has been rejected, but this does not rule out the possibility of EA offering the NBA a future deal that may be accepted.
