Nintendo’s Revolution to be A ’Paradigm Shift’

January 13th, 2005 (12:57pm) - Nintendo Co. Ltd. President Satoru Iwata has mentioned in the past that the GameCube’s successor will attempt to "revolutionize" the way games are played. Of course, that’s just a buzzword console manufacturers like to toss around with each new coming videogame generation. Well, get ready for more buzzwords because today Iwata-san mentioned, in an interview with the Kyoto Shimbum Japanese newspaper, that the GameCube’s successor would represent "paradigm shift in gameplay."

I take it that many readers are confused... What exactly is a paradigm shift? Well, a paradigm shift is a radical reconceptualization of the nature of a business and the nature of an organization. This could very well mean that Nintendo will be taking a great risk with what they plan on doing with the "Revolution" because paradigm shifts often represent complete changes, the creation of new and different products and a new way of approaching things.

I’m sure that many of you are questioning what Nintendo could possibly have in store for gamers, but it’s unfortunate that we may never get any real answers till E3 in May.
