Flashpoint Germany Now Available for Purchase Online

January 25th, 2005 (11:03am) - Matrix Games has announced that their grand tactical war game Flashpoint Germany is now available for sale from the Matrix Games website.

Flashpoint Germany occurs at the height of the cold war. The historical outcome we know hasn’t happened yet and this time things will end differently. This time, with the world at the brink of World War III and the Soviet Union in a state of near collapse, the decision to seek a military solution was made. Square off as either the Warsaw Pact or the NATO alliance in this war to end all wars!

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said, "We can look back now and be glad that the Cold War ended peacefully, but that still leaves us with the greatest and ultimate ’what if’ in history. In the most dangerous war that never happened, on the most lethal of battlefields, with everything from artillery-scattered minefields to chemical and nuclear weapons, you will learn that tactics and strategy are still essential to your survival."

Flashpoint Germany is based on the classic wargames ’Main Battle Tank: North Germany’ and ’Main Battle Tank: Central Germany’ from Simulations Canada. Working together with Simulations Canada, Matrix Games combined those excellent designs and their deep gameplay and brought them up to date with the technology and style of modern wargames. The result of this mission is the new Flashpoint Germany.

Take command of either side’s forces and employ the tactics and strategies that modern warfare demands. The features of the game range from air strikes to minefields, from artilleries to chemical weapons, and of course, nuclear warheads. With a complete database of accurate equipment and unit types, comprising over 170 different units, 195 platforms or vehicles, and 112 different weapons, Flashpoint Germany gives you the final say in how the Cold War could have ended.

Flashpoint Germany spans 17 different scenarios and comes complete with a scenario editor, order of battle guide and equipment database. Additionally, players can play online, by e-mail, or against a competitive computer opponent. Each battle map is a detailed representation of the German landscape, representing the actual terrain that would have influenced battles throughout West Germany.
