DS becomes fastest selling gaming platform in the UK

March 14th, 2005 (4:21pm) - The latest UK sales charts are showing that an estimated 87,000 units of the Nintendo DS handheld has been sold during its launch week in the UK, making the biggest launch week for any UK gaming platform (including home consoles and handhelds).

Previously, the GameCube had been the fastest selling home console over a launch week with 69,000 units sold. In comparison, the Game Boy Advance sold 67,000 units during its UK launch week, while the Game Boy Advance SP sold 47,000 units.

The Nintendo DS launched in the UK with sixteen titles available. Twelve of these games made it into the UK’s “All Foramts Top 40” with three of these games breaking into the Top 10, with those being Super Mario 64 DS, WarioWare: Touched!, and Rayman DS
