"Kill Bill Vol.1," "Pirates of the Caribbean," and more coming to to the PSP
March 16th, 2005 (1:24am) - Buena Vista Home Entertainment has announced its plans to released five film titles on Universal Media Disc (UMD) for Sonys PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld gaming system. The films being released are "National Treasure," "Reign of Fire," "Hero," and the blockbuster films "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" and "Kill Bill Vol. 1."
"Buena Vista Home Entertainment is excited to move forward with our movies on this format. With its crisp picture, ease of use and quick response mechanisms, the PSP(TM) is poised to revolutionize portable entertainment systems throughout the world," said Chapek. "We are confident that the five titles we announced today appeal to the new PSP consumer." These films will be available in UMD format during the spring and are expected to be available at a price point similar to new DVD releases. The PSP launches later this month on March 24th for a suggested retail price of $249.99. It will come bundled in a value pack that contains a UMD version of the "Spider-Man 2" movie.
