Mad Catz to create MLB team controllers
March 16th, 2005 (3:09pm) - Third party game accessories manufacturer Mad Catz has announced that it has signed a license agreement with Major League Baseball Properties to manufacture MLB team controllers for the PS2 and the Xbox. This deal is similar to the licensing agreements Mad Catz signed with the NFL and NBA. There will be an individual design for each of the 30 Major League Baseball teams. "We are thrilled to be working with Major League Baseball Properties as our third major sports license," said Darren Richardson, President and CEO of Mad Catz. "The MLB controller line presents us with a great opportunity to offer another set of exciting products at strong price points and to drive incremental sales outside of the traditional holiday selling season." "Mad Catz has a proven track record of providing gamers with quality video game accessories," said Howard Smith, Senior Vice President, Licensing, Major League Baseball Properties. "Now, with these controllers designed for each and every MLB team, baseball fans nationwide can bring their passion for the game to a new playing field and play their favorite video games with their hometown teams." Mad Catz MLB controllers are expected to be available this summer at a suggested retail price of $29.99.
