DS sells over 600,000 units during its European launch week

March 16th, 2005 (3:51pm) - On Monday we reported that the Nintendo DS broke a sales record in the UK with 87,000 units sold in just two days. This success in the UK has reflected the success of the dual-screened handheld in other parts of the Europe.

During its launch weekend, over 600,000 units of the Nintendo DS had been sold. In comparison to the North American and Japanese launches of the handheld, the European launch of the Nintendo DS is actually more successful. It took a week for the Nintendo DS to sell 500,000 units in NA, while it took for days to do the same in Japan, and an astonishing three days in Europe to sell 100,000 units more. Approximately 650,000 units of the machine were shipped to Europe.

Nintendo is surely having a difficult time keeping up with the incredible demand for the Nintendo DS in European territories. It is expected that Nintendo will strengthen their European efforts because of this extremely successful European launch.
