Iwata plans to expand the "target market for games" with the Revolution
March 28th, 2005 (5:05pm) - In an interview with Nikkei Business Daily, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata spoke briefly on Nintendos next-generation home videogame console, code-named "Revolution." Iwata-san mentioned that one of Nintendos goals is to expand the target market for videogames, and to do this he believes that the way we play videogames should not continously become more complicated, but instead provide an interface that is user friendly. Heres an excerpt from the interview: A goal of ours with Revolution is to expand the target market for games. The current consoles are are constantly getting more complicated. The number of buttons on Joypads has been increasing steadily in recent years, for instance. Hardcore players can still manage, but for inexperienced people and beginners the degree of complexity is too big of a barrier. In order to reach these people and to motivate them to play games, Revolution will have a "User Interface" that everyone can manage. However, Iwata cannot yet discuss exact details. Reported by Elias Dounis on March 28th, 2005 (5:05pm) [From: Game Front]
