March 28^th, 2005 (5:59pm) - When the PlayStation Portable launches in Korea on May 2nd, unlike the first shipments of the handheld in North America and Japan, the PSP will come with its wireless internet features ready for use out of the box. Sony will be partnering with KT Corp, a wireless Internet Service Provider in Korea, in order to easily allow users to bring their PSP online in Korea. The first one-hundred thousands units of the PSP Value Pack sold in Korea will come bundled with a Network Utility UMD and a limited-time membership for NESPOT, KT’s web service.

The Network Utility UMD will allow Korean PSP users to play games online, along with the options of being able to web browse, watch movies online with player, and listen to music with an online music player.

NESPOT will allow users to bring the PSP online across 14,000 wireless hotspots in Korea. Korean PSP owners will also be offered to get an NESPOT AP (Access Point) installed in their homes for no additional charge, which will allows wireless use of the PSP throughout their homes. NESPOT will cost 5,000 won ($4.92) a month after the first free month and those who register will receive a free online-enabled game for the PSP, developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Korea, called Glorace

Streaming music, streaming videos, e-learning options and electronic books are also scheduled to be part of the PSP’s network services in Korean in the future.
