Star Wars Battlefront 2 in the Fall
March 29th, 2005 (1:43am) - The latest issue of PC Gamer has revealed that LucasArts and Pandemic is in development with a sequel to the best selling Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Battlefront 2 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC (a next-gen Xbox version is rumored). This sure-to-be videogame blockbuster will be using the same engine of the first game with upgraded character models, textures and netcode, and will feature 16 new battles.
This time around players will be able to battle in space with a dog-fighting aspect that is said to be much like Factor 5s Rogue Squadron games for the GameCube. During these space battles, players will be able to board, sabotage, and take control of cruiser ships. Unlike the first game, whos gameplay centered around capturing outposts, Battlefront 2 will be objective driven. For instance, one mission will be ripped straight out of "Episode IV" where players must help R2-D2 and C-3PO reach their escape pods in order to flee to the planet Tatooine. Of course, Battlefront 2 will also include key battle sequences from the "Star War Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" feature film, including the massive space battle of Coruscant. Many of the developers have been treated to an early screening of Episode III in order to recreate this incredible action sequence to the best of their abilities. More on the game as it comes...
