April 7^th, 2005 (12:58am) - Just as the latest issue of Japan’s Famitsu magazine revealed new information regarding Viewtiful Joe: VFX Battle for the GameCube and PSP, it has also revealed the very first pieces of information regarding the previously announced Viewtiful Joe game coming to the Nintendo DS.

The game is being called Scratch! Viewtiful Joe, and unlike VFX Battle this Nintendo DS Viewtiful Joe game will be a kick ass 2D beat ’em up just as its two critically acclaimed predecessors.

Scratch! Viewtiful Joe will take place in a large amusement park where the latest film Captain Blue is filming is taking place. However, everything goes wrong when the Madou syndicate steals the film and causes all hell to break loose. Of course, it’s up to Joe to get it back and kick all kinds of ass.

Appearing in this new adventure is Joe’s younger sister Jasmine. Jasmine is an aspiring actress and will play a role of importance in the game. It’s not known if she will be a playable character, but it’s likely that she may just be one.

Of course, Scratch! Viewtiful Joe will utilize the Nintendo DS’ touch screen and it will utilize it in a unique way that you’re bound to only see a game such as Scratch! Viewtiful Joe. According to the article, players will be able to slide their thumb over the touch screen to "slice" object appearing on the screen in two. For instance, players can slice a large billboard and have it drop on onto enemies below.

We hope to have more on Scratch! Viewtiful Joe in the future... This is surely going to be one of the most anticipated DS games in development.
