ATI to Pursue Longterm Relationship With Microsoft
June 3rd, 2005 (1:53am) - ATI has expressed its interest in partnering with Microsoft with more than just the development of the Xbox 360s graphics processor. Not only is ATI looking to continue its relationship for the successor to the Xbox 360 but even other types of multimedia products.
"Our view is that when we enter a partnership like Xbox with Microsoft, its not a one-shot. Its really a launch on a long-term partnership," said ATI CEO Dave Orton, speaking to Reuters during a technology seminar in Taipei. Orton believes that together ATI and Microsoft can provide a wide array of multimedia products, seeing as Microsoft has made its intentions clear of wanting to expand into new multimedia sectors. "Thats what we want to do because we believe this technology is ultimately redeployable in different forms," he added. "Thats what we hope ultimately Microsoft will decide."
