Halo Movie Coming Soon?

June 8th, 2005 (1:26am) - Master Chief is at it again. He’s storming the bases and pointing guns, but this time he’s not taking on the Covenant or the flood; he’s taking on Hollywood. That’s right, on Monday Microsoft sent out it’s script for the Halo movie, and they were delivered to offices by none other than Master Chief himself, or at least by delivery people dressed as him.

The script, which was written by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, The Beach) is reportedly requiring a $10 million fee for the rights. Microsoft estimates this deposit will equal 15 percent of the films gross.

Whichever studio decides to accept this script will have to give "strict control of development" to Halo devleoper Bungie, who say they have written a "bible" for the filmmakers to follow. This measure is taken to keeping the storylines from the games and the movie from conflicting.

Microsoft reportedly wanted studios to begin bidding as soon as late Monday (yes, the Monday they delivered the script). Speculation currently points to Microsoft wanting to match the movie release with that of Halo 3 for the Xbox 360.

More here as it breaks.
