Revolution Controller Not Finished
June 8th, 2005 (2:22am) - At E3 Nintendo said that one of the reasons that the company has not revealed its controller for its next generation console is because that it does not want to reveal it so early that it gives its competitors time to steal its ideas. However, there may also be another reason as to why Nintendo has not revealed the controller for the Revolution... its not finished.
At a business strategy conference in Japan, Nintendos Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that the Revolutions controller has not been completed and is still undergoing changes. Miyamoto-san is focused on not making the controller overly complicated so that players arent alienated with gameplay that is far too complex for its own good. "Were at a stage where were adding and removing various kinds of functions, which has been very fun," he said. "The Revolution will have an interesting interface. Were investing a lot of money into the [development of the] interface, and its still not finalized," said Miyamoto. Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of Americas executive vice president of sales & marketing, has said in the past that the Revolution controller is being designed to be able to play games for the NES, SNES and Nintendo 64, as well as Revolution games, so it will play traditional videogames. However, despite this information, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said that we should expect to be "surprised with the Revolutions controller."
