Xbox 360 Costing Microsoft Money?

June 8th, 2005 (2:25am) - It’s a well known fact that Microsoft was losing a lot of money when they sold an Xbox. It was widely believed that the Xbox 360 launch was planned so early because they wanted to stop losing money on their console. If recent reports are accurate however, Microsoft might be in the same boat with their newest machine.

Microsoft will reportedly lose $75 for every Xbox 360 sold. While it’s common for a machine to lose money before it starts to make it (technology prices are higher towards the beginning), this represents a latteral shift for Microsoft, rather than the step forward they seemed to be making.
