Geist In its Final Stages of Testing

June 9th, 2005 (1:48am) - According to GameCube Advanced, a reliable source within developer n-Space has let info leak revealing that their GameCube first-person shooter, Geist, is in its final stages of testing. The game is on its way to making its new release date on August 8th.

Additionally, this source commented on the reaction’s players had to the game from its recent E3 showing:

Our biggest frustration is people’s reaction to control. The (control scheme) has been handed to us by NCL - this is how they want it to feel. It is not a traditional FPS control set-up, it is a FPA (first-person action). The directors that we work with at NCL have been Tanabe-san and Konno-san (Metroid & Mario Kart), and they know control.

Geist is a first-person shooter in which players will be able to possess the bodies of various persons and creatures and utilize their unique abilities to progress through the adventure.

In Geist, you play as John Raimi, a disease-control agent with the federal government, on loan to an elite counterterrorism unit. Your team is sent to investigate the shadowy Volks Corporation. When the operation goes horribly wrong, you are captured and subjected to a ghastly experiment that rips your spirit from your physical body. You now roam the halls of the Volks Corporation compound as a spectral phantom, using your powers to scare and possess any human or animal that crosses your path.

If you’re going to have any hope of finding your own body, you must employ your hair-raising power of possession to control humans, animals and objects, using the unique abilities of each to explore the compound, solve puzzles and strike at your enemies. Along the way, you must discover the secret of the Volks Corporation to unravel the mystery of your condition and find a way to recover your human form.

GamersMark will have more on Geist shortly.
