New York Senator Wants to Ban 25 to Life
June 22nd, 2005 (6:34pm) - While the Grand Theft Auto series has taken a lot of heat from both the media and the government for its violent content, a new game from Eidos has one official worked up into a tizzy.
New York Senator Charles E. Shumer wants to ban Eidos upcoming title 25 to Life. Shumer said the game makes "GTA look like Romper Room." He believes that the games setting is inappropriate and plain wrong. Shumer says the game "sets gang members against police and sends them on a mission to fight their way through the streets, killing whatever gets in the way," which is an accurate description of the upcoming title. Shumer called for the game to be banned by retailiers, and for Microsoft and Sony to end all deals with Eidos. In a final statement, Shumer says "little Johnny should be learning how to read, not how to kill cops. The bottom line is that games that are aimed and marketed at kids shouldnt desensitize them to death and destruction." Of course the games Mature rating goes ignored by Shumer.
