July 7^th, 2005 (12:52am) - Speaking to GamesIndustry,biz, Vivendi Universal Games company president Phil O’Neil revealed that VU Games plans on making many sequels to the publisher’s upcoming Scarface and 50 Cent games. In other words, Vivendi is going to milk these franchises to death.

As is one Scarface game isn’t enough, O’Neil said that we should expect "a Scarface 2, a Scarface 3, a Scarface 4, and consecutive iterations of that product as being a really important component of what we’re [Vivendi] trying to do here."

Additionally, O’Neil has said that the company should take advantage of rapper 50 Cent’s popularity and that "arguably, 50 Cent - while a person - is not necessarily licensed IP in the traditional sense." However, he is a cash cow and it’s " actually an ability to create a franchise," he continued, "and that’s probably the big determination which is the ability to take an IP and make it into a franchise as opposed to a one-off. So we’re hopeful that candidly, both Scarface and 50, while not ’original’ IP, become sustainable franchise brands for us."

Of course, there is a possibility that Vivendi’s plans may fall through if both games happen to perform poorly on sales charts.
