Nintendo to Release Accessory for Non-Wireless Internet Users
July 11th, 2005 (11:47am) - The Nintendo DS and Nintendos Revolution next generation game console will use Nintendos future Wi-Fi network to play with users across the globe wirelessly online. However, for those users who do not have a Wi-Fi set up at home, Nintendo plans to release an official accessory that will allows users without a wireless router to use their PCs to gain access to Nintendos Wi-Fi network.
A Nintendo representative told Aussie-Nintendo the following:
If you have a Nintendo DS, then you do have wireless. Nintendo has announced plans to make a PC-compatible wireless network adapter to work with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. It will use a USB 2.0 connection. While we dont have any details yet, basically, instead of an accessory that will let you go non-wireless, this accessory will make your current internet connection compatible with Wi-Fi. We are really looking forward to the online capabilities of the system! Although we dont have any details yet, we have been assured that it will be very easy and affordable! Because it plugs in your PCs USB 2.0 connection, it seems as if your PC must be turned on in order to use this official accessory. Nevertheless, it should be a cheaper alternative to buying a wireless router to play future Nintendo DS and Revolution games online.
