Brandos Voice Not Being Used in EAs The Godfather
July 13th, 2005 (3:35pm) - According to a recent report in the New York Times, the anticipated vocal performance by the late Marlon Brando in Electronic Arts upcoming The Godfather videogame may not be used in the game at all. Brandos voice-over work had been done prior to his death last year and it is said that his voice-overs had been hampered by his "fragile condition," as he could only breathe with the assistance of an oxygen tank.
Due to the quality of these recordings, Electronic Arts will now be using a sound-alike to record the dialogue of Brandos "Vito Corleone" character. However, EA has said that it may be able to use some of Brandos recordings. "Its still to be determined how the development team will choose to use what was recorded with Mr. Brando," an EA representative told website GameSpot. The recordings are reportedly marred by the loud noise of Brando breathing through a tube. The Godfather will be released across a number of current gen and next-gen platforms later this year.
