Japanese Software and Hardware Sales for the July 4 - July 10, 2005

July 16th, 2005 (3:18pm) - Once again, a horde of new releases have invaded Japan’s latest weekly software sales charts, with Sega’s Sakura Taisen V topping off the charts with over 110,000 units sold. Following it is the Nintendo DS’ Yawaraka Atamajuku, which once again finds itself in the No. 2 spot, but surprisingly the game has actually sold more than the previous week with approx. 75,000 units sold. Like its Adult Brain Training predecessor, Yawaraka Atamajuku is expected to become one of the Nintendo DS’ fastest and best selling games.

On the hardware side of things, the Nintendo DS tops out with over 41,000 units sold, the highest weekly amount the handheld has managed to sell since the release of Nintendogs. However, the interesting detail is that there were no new releases for the Nintendo DS this week, but sales for the handheld still managed reach a high note for the week. All other platforms saw a slight slump in sales compared to the previous week.
