PSP shipment reaches 5 million worldwide
July 22nd, 2005 (12:29pm) - At the PlayStation Meeting, Sony Computer Entertainment announced that 5.07 million PSP consoles ahve been shipped around the world, with more than half being sold in North America.
2.33 million units have been shipped to Japan and Asia, and 2.74 million have been sold to the US and Canada. 11.2 million copies of the 48 available PSP games have been shipped with 7.3 million to North America and 3.9 million to Japan and Asia. Sony predicts there will be 150 titles available by the end of March 2006. The UMD movie format has sold quite well in North America, where 4.3 million units have shipped, including the 1 million copies of Spider-Man 2 that were shipped with the first batch of PSPs.
