Persia’s Prince Battles on the DS

July 22nd, 2005 (4:22pm) - The Prince of Persia will be making his way to the Nintendo DS this holiday season with an all new and exclusive adventure for the Nintendo DS in Battles of Prince of Persia. Featuring cel-shaded visuals and card battle-based gameplay, Battles of Prince of Persia promises to offer a brand new and unique experience unlike that of any previous Prince of Persia game. To say the least, the game is a spin-off.

Battles of Prince of Persia will take place between the events of the Sands of Time and Warrior Within, and will feature familiar faces from both games. In the game, the prince unintentionally starts a war between Persia and India by releasing a ancient and evil spirit in attempt to escape Dahaka’s shroud (the main focus of Warrior Within’s plot).

The gameplay found in Battles of Prince of Persia will be nothing like that which fans have grown to know in love in its home console brethren. The game will be card-battle based, which will allow players to command troops and units using a Final Fantasy Tactics-like interface.

Of course, Battles of Prince of Persia will utilize the DS’ unique features, including touch-screen control and wireless multiplayer. Only a single DS game card will be needed for head-to-head battles and the game will have a wireless function that allows players to trade cards with other players.
