Miyamoto and Iwata Interviewed in EGM
July 22nd, 2005 (9:08pm) - In the newest EGM, the staff sat down and had a chat with Nintendo Gods Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata, about the Revolution, future games, and Mario 128.
Miyamoto says that the new interface for the Revolution would be well suited for a game along the lines of Pikmin, and that he would like to do a sequel on the Revolution, but he cant talk about any specific projects until an official announcement about the system is made. He also said that hes working on Mario 128 with his team, but they havent really gone past the brainstorming phase yet. He cites games like Donkey Kong Jungle Beat as to why the game isnt farther along. Miyamoto also mentioned that the company is considering a DS version of Super Smash Bros. Iwata made some confusing comments about the Revolution and its DVD playback. Heres the direct quote so you can make your own decision on what he meant. "... the DVD player isnt going to be an attatchment; its going to go inside the machine so you wont [even be able] to tell the difference." He also mentioned that theres no reason to believe that the Revolution will be inferior to the PS3 and the Xbox 360 graphically. Now for the quote: "I dont think the Revolutions [graphics] will be inferior in any fashion to Xbox 360 or PS3." Finally, he mentioned that the company plans to "reinvent the wheel" with this system, with the following quote: "Well of course the idea is the Revolution will sell and sell so it becomes the standard in the industry." Strong words indeed. Other than that, its a quite lengthy interview that you should check out if youre interested. Reported by Anthony Swinnich on July 22nd, 2005 (9:08pm) [From: EGM]
