Japanese Software and Hardware Sales for the July 11 - July 17, 2005

July 23rd, 2005 (3:04am) - Japan loves its new releases, but many of these new releases for the PS2 rarely stay on the chart for long. While Sakura Taisen V topped off last weeks charts, the game is nowhere to be found in the top ten this week, however, that may be due to the fact that many new and big releases invaded this weeks charts, including Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 12 (the best selling game of the week), Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, and Naruto RPG 2 for the DS.

Surely, Nintendo must be pleased with the sales performance of both Yawaraka Atamajuku and DS Brain Training for Adults. Both games have managed to stay in the top ten since their release and have proven that Nintendo’s unique and innovative DS games are indeed something that the Japanese gamer and non-gamer is indeed interested in. With this said, the Nintendo DS once again tops off the hardware sales charts while Sony’s PlayStation 2 follows it in the numbers battle, with the PSP trailing tad further behind its home console counterpart. If anything can be said on the home console front, it’s that Sony is indeed king of hardware sales in this area.
