Japanese Software and Hardware Sales for the July 25 - 31, 2005

August 6th, 2005 (11:49pm) - Software sales in Japan have risen for the week of July 25th through the 31st in Japan thanks to a large amount of new releases for the PS2. Taking the No. 1 spot for the week is Banpresto’s Super Robot Wars Alpha 3 for the PS2, which sold a tremendous 470,003 units in a single week.

Surprisingly, no game in the top ten managed to sell below 30,000 units, and even more surprising is the fact that the Nintendo DS still managed to be the best selling console for the week, selling more than the previous week, with no new releases for the console making it into the top ten. In fact, only one DS game made an appearance and that’s Nintendo’s successful Gentle Brain Training video game.

It is believed that DS hardware sales will see a slight drop in sales next week since a new color for the handheld will launch the following week along with the sure to be blockbuster Jump Super Stars on August 8th..
