Jump Super Stars Released in Japan

August 8th, 2005 (6:07pm) - The game that is sure to be the Nintendo DS’ best selling game in Japan to date has finally been released. Yes, the Super Smash Bros. Melee-like fighter, Jump Super Stars has made its way to retail shelves in Japan, alongside a new red colored Nintendo DS.

Jump Super Stars features an incredibly large collection of characters from Japan’s most popular anime and manga, including Dragon Ball Z, One Pience, Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Yu Yu Hakusho, Eye Shield 21 and many, many more. The had reportedly sold more than 200,000 copies in consumer pre-orders alone and is expected to move a large amount of DS software and hardware.

Unfortunately, Jump Super Stars would be a licensing nightmare for Nintendo and its likely that we will not see the game release in North America any time soon, if ever. However, it should be noted that the Nintendo DS has no region lock, thus allowing owners to import games freely without having to convert their hardware with any special modifications.
