Splinter Cell Movie to be Picked up by DreamWorks
August 12th, 2005 (6:31pm) - Variety is reporting that DreamWorks will be acquiring the rights to a motion picture based on the video game Tom Clancys Splinter Cell from Paramount Pictures, whom acquired the rights to create a film based on the property this past December.
Daniel Pyne is said to be writing the script for the film and he is known for his recent work on the acclaimed film "The Manchurian Candidate." Peter Berg was appointed by Paramount Pictures to direct the film, however, it is unknown if whether or not he will be replaced, as were J.T. Petty and John J. McLaughlin, who were originally scheduled to work on the movies script. Michael Ovitz will still be producing the movie, as he is Mr. Clancys longtime manager, and both Tom Clancy and Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot, will act as Executive Producers. Well keep you posted on the movies development.
