Sony Forms SCE Worldwide Studios
September 14th, 2005 (8:26pm) - Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that it has brought its development studios together in the form of SCE Worldwide Studios. Newly named president of SCE WWS is executive vice president of game development Phil Harrison. By bring all of its development studios together under this single name, Harrison hopes that this change "will further accelerate the creation of global hit titles and be responsible for creative, technical and strategic direction setting of development and production." Harrison will work with management teams from the companys development studios in North America, Europe, and Japan in order to create software for the PS2, PSP, and PS3. "As SCE enters its second decade, we need to reinforce our games development power and create new entertainment experiences that will bring out the best of the technology in platforms such as PSP, PlayStation 3 and beyond," said Ken Kutaragi, president and group CEO for SCEI. "I am confident that the power of our development studios are further empowered to create more new and innovative titles." "By combining the wealth of creativity and talent of games development we can dramatically change the landscape of computer entertainment," added Harrison.
